Community as Cosmos was a paper I had written while involved with Milton Kotler at the Institute for Policy Studies in the 1980’s. The paper began with a rejection of two creation stories of Western civilization, the Hebrew and the Greek. The rejection was based on the exposure of the cosmoses both stories were based on as optical illusions. Both were based on closed universes. The exposure came with Halley’s discovery of three stars that were not in the places that the Greek Hipparchus had plotted. This was the beginning of the opening of the universe. Since that time we have a much better collection of information about the universe but no new theory of creation. Creation has been my central religious concern since my late teens. I had been annoyed with the Genesis account with humans set in a finished creation. Humans had no role in creation. The only history the Catholic Church and other churches could talk about was salvation history.
Milton Kotler’s book Neighborhood Government filled in the gap in my thinking. His value is liberty that can only exist locally. His focus is on poor communities in cities and needs to be generalized to all communities everywhere.
My book Community as Cosmos has been published and is available from Amazon.
Best wishes to all Deists.

I'm interested already. I hope you'll have some interest in the book we just started selling this week.

Good to see someone from that area of Maryland. I spent about five years working right across the road from Ft. Meade. Beautiful area.
